The Naughty Corner Board
Over the years we’ve gone through many reward and punishment systems in the Ice-Simmons house, and I stumbled upon this old picture of a version of our “Naughty Corner” board from a while back. This one was especially sad to my son, because it had “naughty Ned” in the Naughty Corner, and Truett did NOT want to get his name on the board with naughty Ned (because his face was so ugly). In this incarnation of the Naughty Board (which changed weekly based on how the behavior modifications were going), we were still spanking for check marks. That, of course, was before we realized that Mr. Truett truly has buns…

13 Tips to Save Money on Fuel
While carpooling, walking, and public transportation can take the sting out of frequent fuel fill-ups, sometimes we can’t get out of having to drive our cars. The tips below will help you get the best fuel economy when driving is a must. 1. Clean out your car! We know keeping it clean is a good habit, but it also saves you money. Unneeded items add weight to your car, and extra weight takes extra fuel to move. Get everything out that doesn’t need to go with you (trash, clutter, hockey gear from last year). It’s 2 for 1: you get a clean, clutter-free car that is more fuel efficient! 2.…

How to Wrap Baby’s Presents in Blankets and Fabric
The process of wrapping presents for a baby for a birthday party or Christmas is a little inefficient. That’s why I’m passing along a tip that I use for all of my little kids (and trust me, I have plenty who can’t rip wrapping paper by themselves!) for how to wrap baby’s presents in blankets and fabric. Of course, you want the gifts to look beautiful for your keepsake photos (like baby’s first birthday for your scrapbook), but there are 2 problems with this: 1. Babies can’t open presents gift wrapped with wrapping paper and 2. If you are “helping” your baby unwrap the presents, you can’t be taking pictures…
