Top Potty Training Supplies I Use as a Mom of 6!
Over the years I’ve come up with my favorite tried-and-true kid- and mom-tested potty training supplies. I’m currently toilet training our 5th potty trainer, who is 1 1/2 years old.
From books to DVDs to sticker charts, all the accessories really do make a difference in your potty training success. I’m not saying you need to spend a lot of money on potty training supplies, just that you need to find the one or two items that your toddler really connects with. Their buy-in to the whole potty training process determines how easy or hard it will be, as well as how long or short of a time it will take, and how much or little resistance you’ll get!
Potty Chair
Here is the potty chair we use now. It has a flushing handle that makes the toilet flushing sound. Summer Infant My Size Potty – Training Toilet for Toddler Boys & Girls – with Flushing Sounds and Wipe Dispenser. They also make the My Size Potty in pink for girls.
We also used this white Baby Bjorn potty chair for our oldest son with success. For our girls, we used a Minnie Mouse potty and a Disney princess potty (no longer available).
Companion Book
This is the Sesame Street potty training book we’ve used with our boys. The girls didn’t really care about it as much. My current potty training son loves it and wants to read it every day. EVERY SINGLE DAY! It’s called Too Big for Diapers and features Ernie.
Movies, DVDs, and Videos
Getting your child immersed into the world of potty training does wonders for buy-in! This is the DVD our current potty training son wants to watch every day (but doesn’t get to!). Elmo’s Potty Time. Since we have a lot of kids and will use it again, we bought the DVD. But you can use Amazon Prime to watch the digital version too.
Since we’ve used this movie with every child so far, they all know and love the songs in it! They sing along and even still want to watch it with our little guy. It has supporting sections about starting to wear underwear and pull-ups too.
There are many more potty training accessories we’ve tried over the years and some were worth the money and some weren’t. A lot of the success just depends on your child and how they identify with the style and characters. Good luck in your potty training adventures!
